reported address of the business of the society, or by

delivering it to some adult, or posting it up, at such address.

8. Any information furnished by any society either

under the said Ordinance or under these regulations shall be signed in the same manner as is provided in the case of an application for registration.

Objects and Reasons.

Inasmuch as this Bill effects several amendments in

the Societies Ordinance, 1920, it has been considered

convenient to repeal that Ordinance and to draft an

amending and consolidating Bill.

2. Clause 2 of the Bill is the same as section 2 of

Ordinance 8 of 1920 with the addition of the definition

of "the Registrar".

Clause 3 of the Bill is identical with section 3 of

Ordinance 8 of 1920.

Clause 4 of the Bill reverts, in the case of certain

sociaties to the former practice existing under Ordinance

No.47 of 1911 (which was repealed by Ordinance 8 of 1920) by empowering the Governor in Council to order any

society to be registered.

Clause 5 of the Bill as to what societies may be

declared unlawful, is a re-enactment of section 4 of

Ordinance 8 of 1920 with an addition in paragraph (b)

which enables the Governor in Council to declare unlawful

any society which is used for purposes incompatible

with its registered objects, and also with a new paragr.
